Selecting a Structural Cable System

  1. Establish the structural requirements for the project.
  2. A 1 x 19 or 1 x 19 compact strand construction is utilized for most projects requiring low stretch. A working load capacity of 1/5th or 20% of the break strength of the cable is utilized.
  3. Select cable-fitting attachments.
  4. A turnbuckle is required for projects where cable adjustment is needed.
  5. Select either a self-installed fitting or Secosouth can attach the fitting in the manufacturing process.

Types of Structural Cable Systems

System 2100 - An adjustable threaded stud is utilized at each end of the cable and is available in swage or swageless designs. This cable system is available in 1/8th inch up to 1-inch diameters. The working load capacity ranges from 316.8 pounds to 17,864 pounds.

System 2105 - This system is similar to the 2100. It contains an inline turnbuckle near the middle of the cable for adjustment purposes.

System 2115 - This system is similar to the 2100. It utilizes a threaded stud at one end and a threaded rod turnbuckle at the other end.

System 2120 - This system is similar to the 2100. It contains a threaded rod turnbuckle at each end of the cable.

System 2200 Structural Cable System - A nonadjustable fork is utilized at each end of the cable. The 2200 Structural Cable System is available in the same widths and working load capacities as the 2100. Options include swage, swageless, fixed and toggle jaw.

System 2205 - This system is similar to the 2200 except that it contains an inline turnbuckle near the middle of the cable for adjustment purposes.

System 2215 - This system is similar to the 2200 except that it utilizes a fork terminal at one end and a threaded fork turnbuckle at the opposite end.
